Interestingly these are among the few plants that bloom in winter (Dec/Jan in India).

Temperature: 20-28 Deg Cel during the Daytime and 12-20 Deg Cel during the Nighttime is optimal. A few degrees warmer is also fine for Lava.

Light: Medium light, omewhere between Phalaenopsis and Cattleya's requirement

Humidity: 50% or higher

Water: Water before the medium is completely dry. The pseudobulbs may shrink if watersupply is insufficient. If that happens increase the frequency of watering. Overwatering causes root rot and infection. Rain water or natural sources are recommended as the best.

Flowering: Do not cut the flower spikes till they are completely brown/dried up as they can produce secondary spikes. The spikes can be upto 10 to 12 inch tall.

Potting: Repotting yearly. Coconut husk or bark mix are ideal.

Fertilizer: Nitrogen: Phospherous: Pottassium (NPK)= 20:10:10 ideal mix.
